Elon Musk announces X.com to redirect to Twitter.com and introduces X logo

Twitter Transforms into "X"

Elon Musk has yet again made headlines with his recent tweet announcing that X.com will now redirect to the original Twitter website at twitter.com, and the X logo will be used. With Twitter being rebranded as X, many are wondering what tweets will be called. According to Musk’s retweet, they’re now called ” x’s ”

The future of X is an infinite form of interaction that centers around audio, video, messaging, and payment/banking. It’s essentially creating a global marketplace for creativity, goods, services, and opportunities, and with artificial intelligence support, X will connect all of us in ways we have only just begun to imagine.

In addition to the redirect announcement, Elon Musk revealed that the Twitter logo will be changed tomorrow. “It should have been done a long time ago. Sorry it took so long. We’re cutting off the Twitter logo off the building with blow torches. It’s gotta come off somehow.”

The thicker X logo, shown below, was designed for the now-discontinued @OfficialXPod. The thicker logo was inspired by a font found online and was used to create the video above, adding a glow and little lines in the logo to make it look “imperfect.”

“Going with minimalist art deco on the upper right. Probably changes later, certainly will be refined,” tweeted Musk regarding the new logo.

It’s important to note that Musk registered the X logo as early as 1999. When asked about the reason for changing the logo, Musk said, “Not sure what it symbolizes, but I like the letter X.” “If the X is closest to anything in style, it should certainly be Art Deco.”

So, what does this mean for Twitter and its users? Will the X branding and logo change affect the way we tweet and interact with one another? look forward to a new era of social media with X at the forefront.
