For Tesla owners with older models packing ultrasonic sensors, the latest OTA software update serves up a fancy new parking party trick: Autopark. Feature is now arriving for Teslas courtesy of the FSD v12.3.6 (2024.3.25) release.
That’s not all—Autopark for ultrasonics-equipped EVs like the 2019 Model 3 and 2022 Model X comes with a twist. Owners can choose to take the old-school route and use the ultrasonic sensors to assist…or go full “Tesla Vision” with just the vehicle’s camera views doing all the parking work.
Talk about a glow-up for those trusty sensors! It’s a night and day difference from the rudimentary park assist visualization longtime Tesla owners are used to.
So what prompted Tesla to bring its slick self-parking system to the ultrasonics crowd? Well, with FSD becoming more broadly available and camera-based “Tesla Vision” rapidly improving, it was really only a matter of time before the experience trickled down.
Between the new visualizations and sensor/camera flexibility, there’s no denying Autopark brings a serious quality-of-life upgrade to the parking experience on older Teslas. An upgrade that could make even tighter lots feel like a breeze.
As self-driving and autonomy continue advancing, it’s nice to see Tesla keeping its more vintage models in the mix with the latest and greatest parking smarts.
