NIO has unleashed its latest electric beast, the EL8, in five European countries – Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. It’s NIO’s sixth model to grace the European market, following the footsteps of its siblings, the ET7, ET5, EL6, EL7, and ET5T.
In Germany, the NIO EL8 comes in two flavors: the 75 kWh battery model, priced at a cool €94,900, and the beefier 100 kWh battery version, setting you back €103,900.
European version of the NIO EL8 is a carbon copy of its Chinese counterpart, the ES8, complete with lidar and a battalion of high-definition cameras. EL8 offers a palette of five paint colors, because who doesn’t love options? And on the inside, you’ll find a floating central control screen and a fully digital instrument panel, both of which support AR/VR video output.
NIO EL8 has a 2+2+2 six-seat layout, with the first two rows of seats boasting NIO’s self-developed seat frame platform, complete with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Even the third-row seats get some love with built-in heating, enhanced 7.1.4 immersive audio system and the car refrigerator.
EL8 packs a serious punch with its front and rear dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, delivering a total power of 480 kW and a peak torque of 850 Nm. Couple that with a dual-chamber air suspension, CDC dynamic damping control system, and Bosch IPB intelligent brake control system, and you’ve got yourself a real performer.
When it comes to range, the NIO EL8 has got you covered, 75 kWh battery version boasts an impressive WLTP range of 390 kilometers, while the 100 kWh battery variant takes it up a notch with a whopping 510 kilometers.
