Tesla V4 Supercharger Launch in China Coming Soon, Offering Compatibility with 3-Party EVs

Tesla V4 Supercharger

Tesla continues to revolutionize the electric vehicle landscape with its latest announcement of V4 Supercharger stations in China. The expansion represents a significant shift in charging infrastructure, offering compatibility with third-party electric vehicles for the first time in the region.

The V4 Supercharger deployment in China showcases Tesla’s commitment to advancing charging technology. While North American stations boast impressive 500kW capabilities, Chinese installations currently operate at 250kW – still maintaining substantial charging speeds for everyday users.

The new charging system supports voltage architectures ranging from 400V to 1000V, enabling faster charging across Tesla’s vehicle lineup. Allows Cybertruck owners to experience 30% faster charging rates, while S3XY vehicles maintain their efficient 250kW charging capability.

A standout feature of the V4 system is its innovative approach to battery warming (Tesla Battery Heating for V3 and V4 Superchargers Cold Weather EV Charging 4X Faster). By transmitting AC ripple current directly from the Supercharger to the battery, the system significantly reduces warm-up times in cold conditions – a crucial advancement for LFP batteries that typically struggle in sub-zero temperatures.

Following the successful launch in Harderwijk, Netherlands, in March 2023, Tesla’s V4 rollout demonstrates the company’s strategic approach to global market penetration. The longer charging cables accommodate various vehicle designs, making the stations universally accessible.

The V4 Supercharger’s dual-capability design – supporting both 500kW for passenger vehicles and 1.2MW for Semi trucks – positions Tesla at the cutting edge of charging innovation. This versatility addresses key concerns about EV adoption and infrastructure readiness.
