SpaceX Offers Free Starlink Dishes to Canadians: 12-Month Commitment Required

Starlink

SpaceX has extended its aggressive customer acquisition strategy to Canada, now offering free Starlink dishes to potential subscribers in select areas. The satellite internet provider updated its Canadian website to highlight the promotion, while also running ads on X to capture attention from potential customers in the northern market.

The offer represents significant savings, as the standard Starlink dish typically costs $499 CAD. However, customers must commit to a 12-month subscription to the Starlink residential service plan to qualify for the free equipment.

SpaceX isn’t making this deal available everywhere. Starlink has strategically limited the promotion to regions where its network has abundant capacity, as indicated by availability maps on the Starlink website.

This Canadian rollout follows SpaceX’s launch of identical promotions in Australia and Italy last week, with Germany added shortly after. Free dish initiative marks SpaceX’s most ambitious effort yet to grow its user base amid increasing polarization around Elon Musk’s political positions, particularly his outspoken support for President Trump.

Despite calls for boycotts against Elon’s companies, Starlink continues to dominate as the fastest and most reliable satellite internet option in Canada. For residents in remote and rural areas struggling with inadequate broadband access, the service offers a critical connectivity solution that many Canadians find worth pursuing regardless of political controversies.
