Tesla will build a new energy storage super factory in Shanghai, specializing in the production of Megapack giant batteries, located in the Lingang area in the southeast of Pudong New Area, the Tesla energy storage super factory Megafactory, production capacity is 40 GWh/year.
The signing ceremony has launched, attended include: TOM Zhu, senior vice president of Tesla’s automotive business, Wang Hao, general manager of Tesla China, and Tao Lin, vice president of Tesla’s global external relations.
At present, Tesla’s business map is mainly divided into two parts: one is electric vehicles, and the other is renewable energy, and the latter can be subdivided into solar energy and energy storage devices. At present, there are mainly products such as Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack.
Among them, the Megapack is a powerful battery that can store and supply energy, helping to stabilize the grid and prevent power outages. Megapack can reliably and safely store energy for the grid without the need to build a natural gas peaking power plant and avoid power outages. According to official data, each Megapack unit can store more than 3 MWh of energy, enough to meet the electricity consumption of 3,600 households for one hour need.
