Tesla is putting the final touches on an all-new, ultra-affordable electric vehicle Model 2 set to shake up the auto industry.
Have Tesla’s new budget-friendly EV Model 2 been hiding in plain sight? According to Samuel Alejandro Garcia Sepulveda, the Governor of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Elon Musk team has already finished designing their next-gen EV for the masses. This new hatchback aims to be the “best and most affordable” electric car on roads today. But if anyone can pull it off, it’s Tesla.
Tesla’s kept this project under wraps, but Sepulveda spilled that they’ve locked in the production design, software, and are gearing up to start cranking these EVs out like hotcakes. We don’t know much else yet, but previous rumors suggest the new model will cost half as much as a Model 3 and include a 53kWh battery to keep costs down.
Tesla has expressed its desire to break the record set by its Shanghai Super Factory, which went from groundbreaking to production in just nine months. However, the company has yet to start construction on the Mexican facility, reportedly due to waiting for permits.
“We don’t have an exact date yet, but the good news is we approved all the permits they need, like for the environment and energy” Sepulveda said “We can tell them to start building whenever”.
Sepulveda also stoked for Tesla’s new mystery vehicle, saying “From what we know, they’re in the final stages of designing a new car that’ll be the world’s best and most affordable electric vehicle. They’ve got the design done and everything they need to start making the car, the software, and get the factory up and running”.
The goal? Tesla plans to replicate the scale of the Shanghai factory at the Mexican facility, with completion expected in the summer of next year. Industry experts are eagerly anticipating the launch of Tesla’s latest EV, which promises to be a game-changer in the electric vehicle market.
