Rivian

Electric pickup and SUV maker Rivian has started deliveries of its new high-capacity R1T Max battery pack option and opened orders for a Max Pack version of its R1S SUV.

The 180 kWh Max Pack for the R1T delivers over 400 miles of targeted range, a major upgrade over the standard pack with 314 miles. First deliveries to reservation holders are now starting.

Additionally, Rivian added the 180 kWh Max Pack option to its R1S configurator this week after previously only offering the standard 135 kWh pack rated for 316 miles of range.

The Max Pack R1S delivers an estimated range of over 400 miles, consistent with the R1T, but Max Pack models come at a premium $15,000 over the base pack.

Rivian CEO says : “Demand for our products is very strong; What we’re going to see as we go forward is a very clear staircase or set of steps that get us to profitability as a business.”

By expanding Max Pack availability to both the R1T pickup and R1S SUV models, Rivian aims to widen options for customers seeking maximum range. As production ramps in 2023, deliveries of the long-range variants will accelerate.

The rollouts demonstrate Rivian broadening its offering mix to attract buyers and grow revenue. With the opening of its second US factory approaching, Rivian is gearing up for wider selection and higher production volumes.
