ZEEKR 007: China’s New Electric Luxury Sedan Seeks to Redefine the Segment

The newly released ZEEKR 007 aims high as China’s first luxury electric sedan under the ZEEKR brand. With deliveries beginning January 2024, can this newcomer compete with BYD, NIO and Xpeng brands?

Pricing starts at 209,900 yuan ($30,500 USD) for the standard 800V rear-wheel drive model. Opting for dual motors and all-wheel drive brings the base price to 229,900 yuan ($33,400 USD). Performance should impress – the AWD 007 accelerates 0-60mph in a supercar-rivaling 2.84 seconds! The RWD isn’t far behind at 5.6 seconds to 60mph. How does ZEEKR achieve such rapid acceleration times?

ZEEKR developed its own Gold Brick lithium iron phosphate battery, providing class-leading range. The top-end 007 also equips CATL’s ternary lithium Kirin battery for even greater distance. Speaking of range, what is most astounding is how quickly the 007 can recharge, (Zeekr EV Unveiled UltraCharge V3 Station and 20kw Home Charging Solution). Thanks to its advanced 800V architecture, the Gold Brick battery can add 500km (310 miles) in just 15 minutes! The Kirin battery can manage 610km (379 miles) in the same 15 minutes. Does this make the ZEEKR 007 the world’s fastest charging electric sedan?

Exterior styling comes courtesy of Silaf Silafov, former Bentley design director. A minimalist luxury approach is taken, with smooth surfaces and simple lines. Over 2,400 LEDs adorn the body, allowing for customizable lighting effects, top models even have a full-width 90-inch front light band! How will this radical design be received?

Inside, riders are treated to the latest tech including a massive 35.5-inch AR heads-up display, 15-inch touchscreen, and 21-speaker Dolby Atmos audio and Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 platform and Kr GPT AI large model, autonomous driving processing comes from the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin chip.

Speaking of autonomous driving, the 007 packs a full sensor suite: LiDAR, 12 cameras, 5 radars, and 12 ultrasonics. This unlocks nationwide high-speed autonomy.

With its long range, blistering acceleration, opulent interior, and advanced tech, Now on its home turf, can this upstart credibly challenge the establishment?
