The refreshed 2024 Porsche Taycan will be unveiled in the coming days with dramatic improvements in range, efficiency, charging speed and performance. Porsche has already revealed that the EV sports sedan achieves an EPA-estimated 364 miles on a single charge and can charge at lightning-fast 332kW.
Now entering its fourth model year, the Taycan sees notable upgrades over its predecessor across the board. Though visibly similar on the outside, under the skin is where the magic lies. Prototypes testing in camouflage confirm subtle exterior changes like new LED headlights and body creases. But the real advancements are in efficiency and charging capability.
According to Porsche engineers, the 2024 Taycan has been enhanced “in practically every discipline” compared to before. EPA-rated range astonishingly jumps to 364 miles, up from 227 miles previously. This massive 64% increase firmly places Taycan among the longest-range EVs available.
Charging speed has also skyrocketed to a maximum 332kW, allowing the battery to replenish from 5% to 80% in under 25 minutes. Porsche says this delivers “constant high charging power” up to around 60% before tapering off. During testing, output stayed near 300kW up to 62% charge, proving Taycan’s incredible charging curve.
With swifter charging and extended range, Taycan promises superior usability and reduced anxiety for drivers. But Porsche hasn’t forgotten about performance either. While official power specs are unconfirmed, expect output and acceleration to improve across the model range too.
Taycan currently offers between 402hp in the RWD base model up to 750hp in the top Turbo S. Look for Porsche to shave precious tenths off 0-60mph times but keep the focus on real-world, repeatable performance.
In summary, refreshed 2024 Porsche Taycan appears set to redefine what an electric sports sedan can deliver. Already at the top of its class before, Taycan looks ready to considerably raise the bar on all fronts. With production starting soon in Germany, the EV crowd has much to get amped about. Porsche continues to set the pace in the transition to electric.
