Xiaomi’s first-ever electric vehicle, Xiaomi SU7, is off to quite the electrifying start. The Chinese EV garnered a staggering 50,000+ reservations in just 27 minutes after its launch today.
Xiaomi SU7 EV seemed to hit that automotive sweet spot of high performance and low price. With a range up to 800km and blistering 0-100km/h times as low as 2.78 seconds, it delivers supercar-levels of power for prices starting at just $31,500 USD.
“Our reservation systems nearly melted under the load,” admitted one flustered Xiaomi rep. “We were expecting solid interest, but 50,000 orders flooding in within the first half-hour? That’s unheard of!”
The SU7’s dizzying array of models catered to every EV buyer’s wildest dreams. The base model offered over 700km range for under $32K. The pro variant tacked on hands-free autonomous driving for $35K. And the $42K dual-motor SU7 Max turned this family sedan into a certified speed demon.
Can Xiaomi’s upstart EV division sustain this electric momentum? The initial SU7 reservations absolutely obliterated expectations. But making good on 50,000 pre-orders is the real challenge ahead for the Xiaomi SU7. One thing’s for sure – the EV world has a hot new brand to watch.
