After months of hype-building, GM has finally pulled back the curtain on the premium tier of its highly-anticipated Silverado EV lineup. The top-spec 2024 Silverado RST is shaping up to be an absolute monster – boasting game-changing range and performance that even gives Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck a run for its money.
On the crucial range front, GM is blowing past its initial 400-mile estimate for the RST. The truck will actually pack a massive 440-mile driving range between charges from its beefy battery pack.
Better yet, the Silverado RST’s starting price of $95,495 (including destination) undercuts GM’s original $105,000 figure by a cool ten grand. That pricing realignment makes the fully-loaded electric truck a more compelling alternative to something like Tesla’s $69,900 tri-motor Cybertruck – which is only slated to offer 500 miles of range with an optional pack.
Monstrous Power and Performance
But it’s not just range where the Silverado RST flexes. This is a veritable performance beast through and through, with GM promising:
Heck, the RST will even rock massive 24-inch wheels to help fill out those chunky fenders. That’s quite the flex from the Detroit automaker.
Of course, the $95K RST represents just the first (and priciest) salvo in Chevy’s upcoming Silverado EV blitz. Less expensive trims will follow for more budget-conscious buyers.
GM already raised some eyebrows by hiking the price of its entry-level Work Truck version. So all eyes will be on whether the automaker can deliver those more affordably-priced electric truck models it’s been teasing.
With the well-equipped RST now locked in as the top dog, Chevy has fired its opening salvo in the high-stakes electric pickup battle – squarely taking aim at Tesla’s Cybertruck in a bid to define the cutting edge of EV truck supremacy.
