In a move that could ruffle some feathers, Tesla has pulled the plug on all inventory discounts for vehicle purchases in the US market. Gone are the days of scoring a sweet 10% off deal on that Model 3 or Model Y – at least for now.
It’s the first time since 2022 that Tesla has had zero discounted inventory models available stateside. From the affordable Model 3/Y to the luxurious Model X, every Tesla now comes at standard MSRP pricing.
So what gives? Is Tesla just tightening the purse strings? According to CEO Elon Musk, it’s about “simplifying and streamlining” Tesla’s sales process, which had become overly “complex and inefficient.” Fair point – keeping track of ever-changing discounts is a headache.
But don’t be surprised if Tesla rolls out tantalizing low financing rates instead of outright discounts. It would maintain that “easy message for consumers” Musk seems to crave while still nudging buyers toward new Tesla ownership.
