Audi’s about to turn your car into a rolling chatbot. Audi has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Microsoft that’ll bring ChatGPT to approximately 2 million vehicles starting this July.
Audi’s integrating ChatGPT via Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service into its infotainment system, giving a major boost to its voice control capabilities. It’s like having a know-it-all friend along for every ride, minus the backseat driving.
This AI-powered chatbot will be available in Audi models made since 2021 that are equipped with the third-generation modular infotainment system (MIB 3). And for those eyeing the future, new rides like the Q6 E-tron and upcoming models with E3 1.2 electronics architecture will get ChatGPT via Cerence Chat Pro as an extension of the Audi assistant.
So, what can ChatGPT do in your Audi? because it’s not just about asking for directions anymore. This AI copilot can handle everything from cranking up the AC to answering those burning general knowledge questions that pop into your head during long drives. Who needs road trip games when you’ve got an AI encyclopedia at your beck and call?
Marcus Keith, Audi’s VP of Interior, Infotainment, and Connectivity Development, is revved up about the possibilities. “With the seamless integration of ChatGPT into our voice control, we are combining the strengths of both applications,” he says. It’s like giving your car a PhD in conversation!
As Audi shifts gears into this AI-powered future, one can’t help but wonder: Is this the beginning of a new era in automotive tech? Will our cars soon be engaging us in philosophical debates during traffic jams?
