Hyundai Motor has announced its partnership with Tesla to provide free NACS adapters to its electric vehicle customers. The program, set to launch in early 2025, marks a substantial shift in charging infrastructure collaboration between major automakers.
The initiative enables Hyundai EV owners to access Tesla’s network of over 20k+ Supercharger stations across North America. For current Hyundai EV drivers, this represents an immediate expansion of charging options, transforming their vehicle’s practicality for long-distance travel.
The free adapter program covers an extensive range of Hyundai’s electric lineup. Owners of 2024 and earlier models, including the Kona Electric, Ioniq Hatchback, Ioniq 5, and Ioniq 6, qualify for the program. The offer extends to 2025 models of the Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5 N, and Kona Electric as well.
Perhaps the most noteworthy development is the 2025 Ioniq 5’s native NACS charging port – making it the first vehicle to come equipped with this feature straight from the factory.
