Rivian 2026 Quad-Motor Launch Edition: 1,025 HP, Tank Turn & 400 Mile Range

Rivian has officially unveiled the 2026 Quad-Motor Launch Edition R1S and R1T.

Rivian has officially launched its most powerful production vehicles yet โ€” 2026 Quad-Motor Launch Edition R1S and R1T. Premium electric trucks and SUVs represent the company’s flagship offering, combining impressive performance specifications with innovative features that push the boundaries of what electric vehicles can accomplish both on and off the road.

2026 Quad-Motor Launch Edition vehicles start at $126,000 for the R1S and $120,000 for the R1T, positioning them firmly in the premium market segment. Prices reflect the substantial engineering investment required to deliver 1,025 horsepower across four independent motors while maintaining the versatility that defines Rivian’s brand identity.

Performance numbers showcase the capabilities of this quad-motor system. Vehicles can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 2.5 seconds when equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 5S tires on 22-inch wheels. Acceleration performance rivals many sports cars while maintaining the utility and ground clearance expected from an electric truck platform.

Range estimates vary significantly based on tire selection and driving modes. Vehicles achieve up to 400 miles of EPA-estimated range in Conserve mode with all-season tires, dropping to 374 miles in standard configuration. Quad-Motor Launch Edition offers buyers multiple tire options, including 22-inch Sport Burnished Bronze, 22-inch Super Sport, 20-inch Dune Satin Graphite, and 20-inch All-Terrain Dark configurations.

2026 Quad-Motor Launch Edition vehicles include NACS charge ports, providing compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network. Integration represents a significant infrastructure advantage for Rivian buyers, who can now access thousands of additional charging stations across North America.

Under optimal conditions, these vehicles can achieve up to 220 kW peak charge rates. 140 kWh battery pack benefits from this high-speed charging capability, though real-world charging speeds will vary based on battery temperature, state of charge, and station capabilities.

RAD Tuner represents one of the most sophisticated vehicle customization systems available in production vehicles. Feature allows drivers to adjust multiple parameters including power response, brake regeneration, ride height, suspension stiffness, brake response, power steering assist, torque balance, wheelslip, and roll stiffness.

Unlike traditional systems that offer simple high, medium, and low settings, many RAD Tuner parameters provide 10 levels of adjustment. Granular control enables drivers to create personalized driving experiences tailored to specific conditions or preferences. System maintains factory-curated drive modes for users who prefer simplified operation while offering extensive customization for enthusiasts.

Regenerative braking system demonstrates the sophistication of this quad-motor platform. Standard settings allow drivers to slow into corners using brake regeneration alone, with physical brake pads engaging seamlessly when additional stopping power is required. One-pedal driving provides smooth operation with minimal rebound in the final inch of stopping.

After years of anticipation, Rivian has finally delivered on its Tank Turn concept with the production-ready Kick Turn feature. Capability allows the Quad-Motor Launch Edition vehicles to execute tight rotational maneuvers by spinning left and right wheels in opposite directions.

Kick Turn system requires approximately one second to engage, demanding precise timing from the driver. Maneuver involves holding specific buttons while applying throttle pressure, creating a controlled spin that can redirect the vehicle in confined spaces. Success requires keeping the steering wheel straight throughout the rotation, as any steering input will cancel the maneuver.

This feature proves particularly valuable in off-road situations where traditional three-point turns might be impossible due to terrain constraints. System’s smooth transition back to forward motion demonstrates the sophisticated control algorithms managing power distribution across all four motors.

Launch Cam feature integrates with the vehicle’s exterior cameras to record acceleration runs with speed and distance overlays.

Launch mode coordinates with the quad-motor system to deliver maximum acceleration performance while the camera system captures the experience from external perspectives. Resulting footage includes telemetry data that can help drivers analyze their technique and vehicle performance.

Quad-Motor Launch Edition includes lifetime access to Rivian Adventure Platform+ and Connect+ services, eliminating ongoing subscription costs for essential vehicle features. Additional premium elements include Launch Edition interior badging, Camp Speaker functionality, and a Launch Edition Welcome Kit.

Two exclusive colorways distinguish these vehicles from standard Rivian models. Launch Green paint pairs with black Mountain and Brown Ash wood accents, while Storm Blue paint combines with Slate Sky and Walnut Wood interior elements.

Vehicle’s performance capabilities extend beyond straight-line acceleration. Testing in various conditions reveals strong cornering performance and responsive handling, though the elevated ride height and substantial weight limit sports car-like maneuvers. Quad-motor system provides exceptional traction control and stability across diverse driving conditions.

Now that’s what we call turning up the power โ€” Quad-Motor Launch Edition vehicles prove Rivian isn’t just spinning its wheels in the premium electric truck market.
