Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) update, version 12.5.4, brings a host of improvements to its Actually Smart Summon (ASS) feature. This update enhances the functionality and user experience of ASS, pushing the boundaries of autonomous vehicle capabilities in parking scenarios.
The new FSD update increases the maximum speed of ASS to 6 miles per hour (9.6 km/h). While this boost is welcome, there’s still room for improvement to achieve smoother and quicker movements. Tesla’s ASS now operates within an 85-meter range, with some flexibility. The system pauses if the distance between the phone and vehicle exceeds 100 meters, and disengages completely beyond 105 meters.
Tesla’s ASS now boasts a maximum movement distance of 475 meters, with an operational time limit of 7.5 minutes. It’s crucial to note that this distance accounts for total movement, not just displacement. The update also removes the initial reverse movement before going forward, streamlining the process and improving efficiency.
ASS now activates significantly faster, enhancing responsiveness. Additionally, users can now personalize their experience by selecting a custom sound to play upon successful completion of an ASS maneuver. These quality-of-life improvements contribute to a more engaging and user-friendly interface.
While these updates represent significant progress for Tesla’s ASS feature, there’s still potential for further advancements. Future iterations could potentially increase speed limits and operational ranges, bringing us closer to seamless autonomous parking experiences.
