SpaceX Launches $10 Starlink Roam Plan: Weekend Internet for Casual Travelers

SpaceX Launches $10 Starlink Roam Plan

SpaceX has quietly rolled out a new budget-friendly Starlink option aimed at occasional users. The new Starlink Roam plan costs just $10 per month in the United States and includes 10GB of data—approximately one day of typical usage according to the company. For users who exceed this allocation, SpaceX charges $2 per additional gigabyte.

This plan represents a significant shift in Starlink’s pricing strategy, making satellite internet more accessible for weekend travelers or those seeking a reliable backup connection.

The rollout appears to be gradual, with some users reporting they can already switch to the new plan via the Starlink app, while others don’t yet see the option. The plan works with both standard Starlink dishes and potentially the newer mini version, though confirmation is still emerging as the offering spreads across the user base.

For prospective buyers, the company currently offers discounted standard (Gen3) hardware kits for $149 in some regions, which paired with this new lower-cost plan creates an attractive entry point for occasional Starlink users.

The new Starlink Roam plan seems particularly well-suited for camping enthusiasts and travelers who need reliable internet during occasional trips. With the ability to activate service only when needed at a fraction of the regular monthly cost, Starlink has positioned itself to capture the market of intermittent users who previously couldn’t justify the higher subscription fees.

This move demonstrates SpaceX’s understanding that not all customers require continuous service, yet still want access to Starlink’s satellite network when conventional connectivity options are unavailable.
