Li Xiang, CEO of Li Auto, has recently expressed his admiration for Tesla’s FSD technology. In an interview, he stated that FSD is the correct direction for the development of fully automatic driving, and that Li Auto’s Self-Driving technical route is exactly the same as Tesla’s FSD. His statement echoes the sentiment of Ray @ray4tesla, who commended Tesla’s advantages in hardware setup, cost, scalability, AI, mass data collection, model training, and algorithm. He described Tesla’s FSD as a true mass data-driven AI computing platform and it seems that Li Auto is taking a page out of Tesla’s playbook on the way to vehicle autonomy.
Elon Musk retweeted from Ray tweets and commented: “ His judgment is correct ”. The endorsement from Musk is a stamp of approval for Li Auto’s approach towards autonomous driving technology.
Li Xiang has previously stated that the urban NOA technical route is similar to Tesla FSD, which involves building a high-quality and efficient training system that focuses on model training supplemented by manual intervention. Li Auto is also replacing lidar with a high-definition vision system, a move that is in line with Tesla’s approach towards autonomous driving.
