Li Auto has been making waves in the electric vehicle space lately. The Chinese automaker’s first model, the Li Auto ONE SUV, offered an intriguing extended-range EV solution. But now Li Auto is gearing up to make an even bigger splash with its first dedicated electric vehicle – the upcoming Li MEGA MPV.

Recently leaked photos have provided the first glimpse of the Li MEGA MPV prototypes undergoing testing. One aspect that immediately jumps out is the aerodynamic optimizations made to boost range. The MPV has a unique streamlined exterior with concealed door handles and a tapered “bullet-like” shape aimed at reducing wind resistance.
But the changes aren’t only skin deep, switch to a pure EV platform has allowed Li Auto’s designers to maximize the interior space, the front cabin has been narrowed to grant more legroom for passengers. Inside, the Li MEGA’s defining feature is its flexible eight-seat layout with adjustable second-row seats.
Multiple sliding seat rails provide ample flexibility and access to the MPV’s cavernous third row, which Li Auto boasts will lead the segment in space. The rest of the interior appears inspired by the tech-centric Li Auto L9 SUV, with dual screens and leather-wrapped panels.
Li Auto founder Li Xiang has lofty expectations for the MEGA, projecting over 500,000 annual sales, Li MEGA is just the opening act in Li Auto’s ambitious electrification plans. Next year the automaker intends to introduce three new pure EVs and one extended-range model. Li Auto is rapidly evolving into a leader in the smart EV space.
With the versatile MEGA MPV arriving soon, followed by multiple new models on the horizon, the industry should take notice.
