Volkswagen Launches Production of VW Electric ID.7 Sedan in Germany

Volkswagen has commenced production of its new electric flagship, the ID.7 sedan, at its Emden factory in Germany. The EV is now available for pre-order in Europe starting at €56,995.

As VW’s sixth ID. series model, the ID.7 represents the brand’s push into the electric luxury segment. It will offer various trims including Pro, Pro S, and a high-performance GTX variant with AWD.

The entry-level ID.7 Pro comes equipped with a 77 kWh battery providing 621 km (386 miles) of range. Its rear-mounted motor generates 210 kW (281 hp) and 545 Nm of torque for brisk acceleration.

VW says aerodynamic optimization helps the ID.7 achieve superb energy efficiency from 14.1-16.3 kWh/100km. Standard tech includes keyless entry, AR head-up display, and advanced navigation.

Higher trims add amenities like massaging seats, ambient lighting, an upgraded Harman Kardon audio system, and a more powerful 86 kWh battery with 700+ km of range.

According to VW CEO Thomas Schäfer, the ID.7 launch represents a major milestone in the brand’s EV transformation. As VW ramps up electric lineups across segments, the ID.7 ushers in a new era of sustainable luxury.
