In a major boost for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, Tesla and Hilton recently announced plans to install thousands of EV chargers at Hilton hotels across the United States, Canada, and Mexico starting in 2024.
Tesla Launches New Universal Wall Connector – One Charger for Any Electric Vehicle
The companies are slated to deploy up to 20,000 Tesla Universal Wall Connectors capable of charging both Teslas and other electric vehicles. The chargers will be installed at over 2,000 Hilton hotels, creating the largest EV charging network of any hospitality company.
According to Hilton, this massive expansion caters to the growing demand from travelers looking for hotels with EV charging capabilities. Searches on Hilton’s website for properties with chargers saw the fastest growth in 2023.
Tesla views convenient overnight charging at popular destinations like hotels as key to enabling mainstream EV adoption. This aligns with Hilton’s sustainability goals while providing exceptional hospitality to guests.
As Matt Schuyler, Hilton’s Chief Brand Officer put it, “This network of EV chargers will offer our guests even more value with the convenience of much-needed overnight charging access in more locations.”
Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla’s Senior Director of Charging Infrastructure, said, “Installing infrastructure at popular destinations, like Hilton hotels, enables EV owners to charge where they park, meaning no unnecessary refueling stops along their journey.”
