Tesla continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle charging infrastructure with its latest groundbreaking project. Announced construction of what will become the world’s largest Supercharger station in Lost Hills, California, featuring an unprecedented 168 charging stalls.

The Lost Hills facility represents a significant evolution in sustainable charging infrastructure. Spanning 30 acres, this massive installation will incorporate 11 MW of solar capacity through ground-mounted panels and canopies, demonstrating Tesla’s commitment to renewable energy integration.

At the heart of this facility, 10 Tesla Megapacks will provide 39 MWh of energy storage capacity. This robust setup enables the station to operate primarily on solar power, reducing grid dependency to just 1.5 MW of service—a strategic decision pending future grid expansion.

The Lost Hills Supercharger tackles practical challenges faced by EV owners. Multiple pull-through stalls accommodate vehicles towing trailers, eliminating the need to unhitch during charging sessions. This thoughtful design enhancement reflects Tesla’s understanding of diverse user requirements.

Positioned along Interstate 5 between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Lost Hills station strengthens one of the world’s busiest EV corridors. This location choice builds upon Tesla’s historical presence in the region, which began with the Harris Ranch installation in 2012.

Tesla’s innovative approach to infrastructure limitations showcases the company’s problem-solving capabilities. Rather than waiting for local substation upgrades, the company leveraged its vertical integration to create a predominantly solar-powered charging solution.

The ambitious project maintains an aggressive construction schedule, with doors set to open by mid-2025. This rapid deployment demonstrates Tesla’s ability to execute large-scale infrastructure projects efficiently.
