Tesla is rolling out the ability to order food straight from your vehicle’s touchscreen while Supercharging. Tesla has teamed up with Just Eat Takeaway to let owners browse local restaurants and place pickup orders, all without leaving the comfort of their electric chariot.
Service is currently available at select Supercharger stations across the UK, including spots in London, Manchester, Cardiff and more. To get your feast on, just head to the facilities menu on your screen and let the hunger games begin.
For Tesla, it’s a nifty integration that adds some actual utility to the Supercharging experience beyond just killing time on Youtube between battery fill-ups. But it’s also a potential mercenary move to siphon more business to restaurants and stores nearby its charging pit stops – not to mention one hell of a future in-car e-commerce platform if they expand the ordering capabilities.
On the customer side, it means less “are we there yets?” from hangry kids and frustrated co-pilots. And c’mon, who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re living in that weirdammer future timeline where you really can get fresh crab rangoons delivered directly to your driverless cyber-carriage?
