The Trump administration has launched a serious effort against individuals targeting Tesla vehicles, dealerships, and charging infrastructure. Attorney General Pam Bondi made the administration’s position clear during a Fox Business appearance: “If you’re going to touch a Tesla, go to a dealership, do anything—you better watch out, because we’re coming after you.”
This federal response follows President Trump’s White House meeting with Elon, where Trump expressed strong support for the electric vehicle manufacturer. During the event, Trump announced his purchased a Tesla Model S.
When questioned by reporters about labeling perpetrators as domestic terrorists, Trump responded firmly: “I will do that; I’ll do it. I’m going to stop them. They’re harming a great American company.”
The president added a stern warning: “You do it to Tesla, and you do it to any company, we’re going to catch you, and… you’re going to go through hell.”
These statements come as conservative media figures have begun embracing Tesla vehicles. Fox News host Sean Hannity purchased a Tesla Model S Plaid, representing a significant shift in conservative perspectives on electric vehicles.
Attorney General Bondi confirmed that investigations are already underway, with at least one arrest made. During her Fox News appearance on Friday, she stated: “I have already directed an investigation be opened to see how this is being funded. Who is behind this? We have people we’re locking up on that.”
Bondi referenced a case where a suspect allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail through a dealership window, noting they face “up to 20 years in prison.” She extended warnings to potential financial backers: “And if you’re funding this, we’re coming after you. We’re going to find out who you are.”
The Justice Department has already filed charges against a 41-year-old Oregon man for illegally possessing an unregistered destructive device after allegedly attacking a Salem Tesla dealership with Molotov cocktails and gunfire.
Responding to Bondi’s comments on X, Elon simply stated that the vandals “They fought law and the law won.”

Elon currently leads Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he oversees controversial federal workforce reductions. While Elon maintains his focus is eliminating government waste, the program has faced significant criticism from various sectors.
As attacks on Tesla properties continue, the administration’s response signals they’re fully charged to prosecute anyone who crosses the line.
