Tesla Launches New Non-Launch Series Model Y with Premium Diamond Black Paint Option

Tesla has introduced the new non-Launch Series Model Y in the US, refreshed vehicle starts at $48,990 for the Long Range AWD variant, representing a $1,000 increase compared to the legacy Model Y Long Range AWD, which was priced at $47,990.

Among the most notable changes, Tesla has expanded its paint color options for North American customers. The company has brought back Solid Black and Deep Blue Metallic paint colors, while also introducing an all-new Diamond Black premium paint option for both the Model Y and Model 3.

The Diamond Black finish, priced at $1,500 in the US, offers a distinctive deep jet black appearance with varying degrees of sparkle and a refined flake appearance that changes subtly depending on lighting conditions. Premium option gives Tesla owners more personalization choices than previously available.

With this refresh, Tesla has discontinued the Launch-Series new Model Y in North America. Currently, no RWD Model Y is available in the US market, though interestingly, Mexico has received a new Model Y RWD trim. Regional variation suggests Tesla is testing different configuration strategies across markets.

Every new non-Launch Series Tesla Model Y will include a mobile charger, contrary to Tesla’s previous policy of selling chargers separately. Tesla has discontinued its old mobile charger design in favor of a new version, which the Cybertruck already comes equipped with. New mobile charger now costs $300, up from its previous price of $200.
