Tesla Launches $69,990 Cybertruck RWD: 350-Mile Range, Fewer Features, June 2025 Delivery

Tesla RWD Cybertruck

Tesla has expanded its Cybertruck lineup with a new rear-wheel drive variant priced at $69,990 — or effectively $62,490 after federal tax credits. New entry-level Cybertruck RWD offers a compelling package for potential buyers who want the angular stainless steel aesthetic without the premium price tag of the all-wheel drive models.

Deliveries for this more accessible Cybertruck are slated to begin in June-July 2025, giving Tesla several months to ramp up production of this latest configuration.

The Cybertruck RWD delivers respectable performance metrics with a 350-mile range that matches some higher-end EV competitors. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds — not Tesla’s quickest offering but sufficient for most driving scenarios. The towing capacity tops out at 7,500 pounds, a 3,500-pound reduction from the 11,000-pound capability of the AWD models.

Weight reduction seems to be a significant factor in the RWD variant’s design philosophy. At 6,117 pounds, it sheds over 500 pounds compared to its AWD siblings that weigh in at 6,634 pounds.

What’s Missing? To hit the lower price point, Tesla has stripped several premium features from the Cybertruck RWD. Gone is the adaptive air suspension system, replaced by traditional coil springs. Interior takes a step back with cloth/textile seats replacing leather, and the 15-speaker audio system gives way to a more modest 7-speaker setup.

Other notable omissions include:

  • No rear screen for passengers
  • Standard bed lamps instead of premium lighting
  • No bed outlets for power tools or accessories
  • No ventilated seats for summer comfort

The aesthetic changes extend to the exterior, where buyers will find 18-inch wheels with a different cover design than those on higher trims.

Tesla is still offering ways to personalize the Cybertruck RWD through optional upgrades. The distinctive Cyber Wheels and Covers package remains available for $3,500.

Perhaps most interestingly, Tesla continues its tiered pricing strategy for Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability. Early reservation holders can add FSD for $7k, while newer customers will pay $8k for the same functionality.

For those interested in the Cybertruck’s signature covered bed, the standard bed can be upgraded with a soft tonneau cover option.

This new Cybertruck RWD variant represents Tesla’s attempt to broaden the appeal of its polarizing pickup. While still not inexpensive at nearly $70k, it creates a more accessible entry point for the Cybertruck lineup while maintaining the vehicle’s distinctive aesthetic and core functionality.

For many potential buyers, the question will be whether the Cybertruck RWD hits the sweet spot between price and features, or if the compromises “truck” away too much of what makes the higher-end models desirable.
