Tesla’s pushing forward with construction on what appears to be a dedicated production facility for its Optimus humanoid robots at the Giga Texas campus. New standalone factory will reportedly support an annual production capacity of 10 million units, a figure that CEO Elon Musk outlined during recent shareholder meetings.
Drone footage posted by Joe Tegtmeyer on X reveals that land clearing has already begun on the eastern side of the Texas site. Images show early-stage development, with River Road expansion and multiple construction projects underway simultaneously. According to Joe’s observations, facility’s expected to enter production by 2027, aligning with Tesla’s ambitious robotics roadmap.
The scale of this Optimus production facility represents a significant manufacturing commitment. Tesla’s not just adding another line to an existing building, they’re constructing an entirely separate complex dedicated to humanoid robot assembly. Approach suggests the company’s serious about meeting that 10-million-per-year target, though it’ll take careful execution to reach such volumes.
Interestingly, Tesla’s also moving ahead with the Giga Texas Riverfront Ecological Park project. Public-access initiative will include sports parks, trails, water access points, and nature areas. Both the Optimus factory and the ecological park are progressing on parallel timelines throughout 2026, which should create substantial activity across the entire campus.
The simultaneous development of industrial and recreational spaces reflects Tesla’s broader strategy of integrating manufacturing facilities with community infrastructure. Whether this dual approach helps with local relationships or permitting processes remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an unconventional manufacturing play.
For now, all eyes are on whether Tesla can actually deliver on its Optimus production promises, (v3 with hyper-realistic hands and streamlined design). After all, getting those robots into motion at scale isn’t just about building capacity, it’s about proving the technology works at a price point that makes sense.
