Tesla’s new Model 3 Highland is gearing up to drop final stage of trial production in Shanghai Gigafactory, y’all. Meaning we could see the Highland version on the roads soon.

An insider spilled the beans that Tesla’s been overhauling their assembly line and locking up employees’ phones to keep the new hotness under wraps.

Elon Musk is banking on the revamped Model 3 to compete more effectively with Chinese EV brands, and it looks like the project, dubbed “Highland,” is right on track. According to insiders involved in the project, the new design aims to lower production costs and has a more fashionable interior.

Reuters reported back in March that Tesla has been transforming its Shanghai assembly plant to produce the Model 3 facelift. And insiders say that the Highland version is expected to go into production in September.
