Mercedes-Benz just dropped a sneak peek of their upcoming CLE Coupe, and spilled the beans that the slick new ride’ll make its big debut on July 5th. As the replacement for both the C-Class and E-Class Coupes, the CLE’ll be zoomin’ into dealerships across Europe, the US, and beyond.
According to the head honcho of CLE testin’ at Mercedes, “We asked C-Class Coupe owners what they wanted in a new model, and most said they were hankerin’ for more luxury. E-Class Coupe folks, though, said they wanted somethin’ sportier. So, we decided to mash ‘em together in this sweet new coupe.”
This new model’s gonna retire at least four of Mercedes’ current coupes as the brand works to tighten up their lineup and boost profits. Specifically, the CLE’s gonna take the place of the C-Class Coupe, E-Class Coupe, and their droptop versions.
The new Mercedes CLE, code name “C236,” has a sleek look that’s a dead ringer for the old S-Class Coupe. Judgin’ from the leaked spy shots, it seems like the new ride’ll only have camo on the front and back ends, with the rest lookin’ a lot like the CLA.
Up front, there’s a flat Mercedes logo front and center, and the grille’s got a sporty flair. The slinky body lines and sloped rear end make the car look powerful and fast, and those dual 5-spoke AMG wheels are the cherry on top. The soft-top convertible’s a real looker, too, with the thin, triangle-shaped taillights complementin’ the LED headlights up front.
New CLE will be available with several powertrain options, plug-in hybrid 2.0-liter turbo (2.0T M254+ISG motor)’ll be the same as the current C300e. The CLE’ll also offer a six-cylinder, an AMG 53 model, and either rear-wheel or 4Matic all-wheel drive. This slick new coupe’s set to replace both the C-Class Coupe and E-Class Coupe, effectively merging the two into one smokin’ CLE Coupe.
