BYD has made a splash at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, Germany, showcasing an impressive lineup of pure-electric commercial vehicles. The event, running from September 17-22, marks a significant milestone for the Chinese automaker as it expands its footprint in the European market.
At the forefront of BYD’s exhibition is the all-new E-VALI, a light commercial vehicle designed to revolutionize last-mile deliveries. Available in 3.5-ton and 4.25-ton configurations, the E-VALI is tailored specifically for European fleets.
The E-VALI leverages BYD’s cutting-edge Blade Battery technology, promising extended range and enhanced performance. With advanced intelligent driving assistance systems, this electric van aims to set new standards in safety and efficiency for urban logistics operations.
Alongside the E-VALI, BYD unveiled its EYT 2.0 pure-electric yard tractor. This powerhouse is engineered for the demanding environments of ports, terminals, and large-scale logistics operations.
The EYT 2.0’s offset cab design offers unparalleled flexibility and durability, capable of handling loads up to 75 tons. Equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery, it boasts an impressive 16-hour continuous operation time, potentially transforming the efficiency of logistics hubs across Europe.
BYD’s commitment to electrifying commercial transport extends to its truck lineup. The ETM6, a 7.5-ton model, targets urban logistics with its 200-kilometer range. Its larger sibling, the 19-ton ETH8, is built for city sanitation and heavier logistics tasks, offering a 250-kilometer range on a single charge.
Both trucks are built on BYD’s specialized all-electric truck platform, showcasing the company’s dedication to developing purpose-built electric solutions for diverse commercial needs.
BYD’s strong showing at IAA Transportation 2024 underscores its ambition to become a major player in Europe’s commercial electric vehicle sector. By offering a comprehensive range of vehicles from last-mile delivery vans to heavy-duty trucks, BYD is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for fleets looking to electrify their operations.
As European cities increasingly implement low-emission zones and businesses seek to reduce their carbon footprint, BYD’s timing couldn’t be better. The company’s focus on tailoring vehicles to European specifications demonstrates its commitment to meeting the unique demands of this market.
