Tesla Launches Actually Smart Summon in Europe: Your Car Now Drives to You

Tesla Actually Smart Summon

Tesla’s latest software update has brought a significant advancement to European and Middle Eastern markets – Actually Smart Summon (ASS) feature is now rolling out through version 2024.44.3. While initially operating within limited parameters, this marks a pivotal shift in autonomous vehicle capabilities across these regions.

The 2024.44 update package introduces several key improvements beyond Actually Smart Summon. Tesla owners can now experience enhanced Autopark functionality, optimized cold weather performance for Supercharging, and improved defogging capabilities. The update also brings practical additions like trailer-compatible Supercharger location information.

The feature enables Tesla vehicles to navigate independently to their owners’ location or a designated spot within parking lots and driveways. Users can access this functionality through the Tesla mobile app (version 4.38.0 or later), which provides a real-time camera feed for monitoring the vehicle’s movement.

The system implements several safety protocols:

  • Automatic pausing on public and high-speed roads
  • Enhanced blocked camera detection
  • Improved collision mitigation
  • Refined curb navigation during Dumb Summon operations

Operating Actually Smart Summon requires minimal input:

  • Open the Tesla mobile app
  • Select the Summon tab
  • Choose between “Come to Me” or “Go to Target” options
  • Maintain button pressure for continuous operation

Users must understand that ASS operates with specific constraints. The system currently functions only in parking lots and driveways, requiring constant supervision. Owners retain full responsibility for their vehicle’s behavior and must remain prepared to halt operations if necessary.

Tesla has already outlined upcoming enhancements, including:

  • HomeLink and myQ garage integration
  • Operation without continuous button pressure
  • Custom completion sound options

This European rollout represents a careful, measured approach to implementing autonomous features across different regulatory environments. The limited initial range suggests Tesla’s commitment to safety and compliance while gradually expanding capabilities.
