Starlink is finally picking up the phone – literally. SpaceX’s satellite internet service has introduced customer support hotlines for US and Canadian subscribers, marking a significant shift in their support strategy. However, don’t expect to call about just any issue that crops up with your satellite dish.
The rollout comes as a response to persistent user feedback about Starlink’s support system. US customers can now reach support at 1-866-606-5103, while Canadian subscribers have access through 1-888-864-1321. But here’s the key limitation: these lines are strictly for connection problems.
The service operates during Central Time business hours, Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM. Before getting through, users must authenticate with their account details and registered phone number. The bilingual service supports both English and Spanish callers.
For issues unrelated to connectivity, Starlink’s traditional ticket-based support system remains the only option. Users experiencing problems with billing, hardware, or other concerns must still submit support tickets through the Starlink app or website.
This isn’t Starlink’s first venture into phone support. The company previously tested similar systems in Indonesia, Ghana, and Kenya, suggesting a methodical approach to expanding their customer service capabilities.
While this move addresses one of Starlink’s most criticized aspects, it’s clear that SpaceX is taking a measured approach. The limited scope of phone support indicates a cautious strategy, potentially allowing the company to gauge demand and refine their support processes before any broader expansion.
