Lexus TZ All-Electric 3-Row SUV Unveiled

Lexus pulled the wraps off Lexus TZ, its first all-electric three-row SUV destined for the U.S. market, and it’s arriving with some genuinely bold choices. From forged bamboo trim sourced directly from Shikoku Island to a cabin that mimics gear shifts with LFA-inspired engine sounds through the speakers, this isn’t your standard EV rollout. Lexus TZ is making a statement, and the industry is paying attention.

Two battery configurations anchor the lineup: a 77 kWh pack and a larger 96 kWh unit, with the latter delivering up to 300 miles of range. Peak charging sits at 150 kW, and a 10–80% charge takes roughly 35 minutes. There’s a NACS charge port, a first-of-its-kind 2-in-1 side-by-side AC/DC connector, and AC external power supply capability — practical touches that signal Lexus isn’t just chasing aesthetics here.

Performance follows suit. Lexus TZ hits 0–60 mph in 5.1 seconds, produces up to 420 hp, and pulls 3,500 pounds. Optional Dynamic Rear Steering adds up to four degrees of rear-wheel articulation, while five regenerative braking levels are adjustable directly from the paddle shifters — ironic, given there’s no transmission to shift.

Lexus calls this the quietest cabin in its SUV lineup, and the specs back that up. Six Japanese-inspired ambient lighting themes, a 21-speaker audio system, a full-screen navigation display embedded in the digital gauge cluster, and in-cabin fragrance come standard. Second-row captain’s chairs feature power ottomans, ventilated seating extends to the front passenger and second row, and every seating row gets heat.

Practically speaking, one-touch folding handles both the second and third rows. Cargo capacity with seats up measures 13.8 cubic feet — modest, admittedly, there’s no frunk. Overall length is 200.8 inches on a 120.1-inch wheelbase.

Here’s the conversation starter: Lexus engineered simulated gear shifts paired with speaker-projected engine sounds modeled specifically after the LFA supercar. It’s a deliberate sensory decision, not an oversight. Whether buyers will embrace it or quietly disable it remains to be seen.

Lexus TZ goes on sale in the U.S. at the end of 2026, with pricing yet to be confirmed.
