NIO Energy September Power Report: 2,556 Swap and 4,023 Charging Stations

NIO

NIO, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is rapidly expanding its energy infrastructure across China, solidifying its position as a leader in innovative charging solutions. The company’s latest “NIO Energy September Power Report” reveals impressive growth in battery swap stations, charging facilities, and strategic partnerships.

NIO’s battery swap technology has gained significant traction, with the company now boasting 2,556 swap stations throughout China. This expansive network includes 859 stations strategically placed along highways, catering to long-distance travelers and addressing range anxiety concerns. The efficiency of this system is evident in the staggering numbers: over 54.1 million battery swaps have been performed to date, alongside 295,366 flexible battery upgrade services.

While battery swapping remains a unique selling point, NIO hasn’t neglected traditional charging methods. The company has established 4,023 charging stations equipped with 23,552 charging piles. These facilities have facilitated more than 48 million charging sessions, demonstrating their widespread use and reliability. Furthermore, NIO has integrated over 1.08 million third-party charging piles into its network, significantly expanding the charging options available to its customers.

NIO’s vision extends beyond its own vehicles. In September, the company announced a strategic partnership with Jiyue, focusing on collaborative development of battery swapping technology. This alliance encompasses various aspects, including battery standards, development of swap-capable passenger vehicles, station operations, battery asset management, and charging platform integration.

The partnership with Jiyue marks NIO’s eighth collaboration in the battery swap domain. The company now boasts alliances with major automakers including FAW, Changan, GAC, Geely, Chery, JAC, and Lotus. These partnerships underscore the industry’s growing confidence in NIO’s battery swap technology and its potential to reshape the EV charging landscape.

As NIO to expand its energy infrastructure and forge new partnerships, the company is not just building a network of charging solutions – it’s crafting an ecosystem that could redefine the EV experience. With each new station and alliance, NIO is swapping the narrative on EV adoption, one battery at a time.
