Amazon Scales Up: 20,000 Rivian Electric Vans Now Delivering Nationwide

Amazon's Rivian Electric Delivery Van Fleet

Amazon’s ambitious push toward sustainable delivery has reached a significant milestone, with 20k Rivian electric delivery vans now operating across the United States. Marks one-fifth of the company’s targeted 100,000-unit fleet, showcasing remarkable growth from just 3k vehicles in March 2023.

The electric delivery fleet has already transported over one billion packages to customers nationwide in 2024, demonstrating the scalability and efficiency of Amazon’s green logistics network. Supporting this massive operation, Amazon has deployed more than 24k charging stations across 150 delivery stations throughout the country.

The e-commerce giant’s partnership with Rivian, announced alongside The Climate Pledge in 2019, represents a concrete step toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The collaboration has produced purpose-built delivery vehicles that combine environmental consciousness with driver-centric design.

These custom-designed Rivian vans incorporate advanced features that streamline delivery operations. Drivers benefit from an integrated workflow system that enhances comfort and efficiency, setting new standards for last-mile delivery solutions.

The growing electric fleet is making substantial progress in reducing carbon emissions. Each vehicle contributes to eliminating metric tons of carbon annually, while maintaining the rapid delivery speeds Amazon customers expect.
