Tesla is bringing back the longest-range version of the Model 3+ in China, equipped with a performance boost that could make it the company’s most capable offering to date. Vehicle appears poised for a September launch with a starting price around $37k.
Model 3+ represents Tesla’s renewed focus on the Chinese market, where competition among electric vehicle manufacturers has intensified significantly. Regulatory filings suggest the company is positioning this variant as a premium alternative for buyers seeking extended range without performance compromises.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has included a new Tesla electric sedan in its 397th vehicle batch list, bearing the product code TSL7000BEVBR1. Model 3+ maintains identical dimensions to the current generation.
Despite the unchanged exterior dimensions, the vehicle incorporates significant powertrain improvements. Most notable upgrade involves a more powerful 225 kW rear motor, representing a 16% increase compared to the current version’s 194 kW unit.
Battery system will be supplied by LG, utilizing NCM (nickel-cobalt-manganese) lithium-ion chemistry.
The NCM chemistry offers advantages in energy density and thermal stability, which directly impact range and safety performance. LG’s involvement also indicates Tesla’s confidence in the supplier’s manufacturing capabilities and quality standards.
Though the “Model 3+” name hasn’t been confirmed for production, the upgraded specifications suggest Tesla is targeting users who want longer range without sacrificing performance. Faster rear motor and premium battery pack create a compelling alternative for buyers in China’s increasingly competitive EV market.
September launch timing positions Tesla to capitalize on the fourth quarter sales cycle, when many Chinese consumers make vehicle purchase decisions. $37k price point places the vehicle in the premium segment while maintaining accessibility for affluent buyers.
With enhanced performance and extended range, the Tesla Model 3+ might just be the plus-sized solution Tesla needs for the Chinese market.
