SpaceX Drops Starlink Mini Dish to $229 – Lowest Price Ever for Portable Satellite Internet

SpaceX has quietly rolled out what appears to be early Black Friday pricing for its portable satellite internet hardware. Starlink Mini dish, previously priced at $299 (down from its original $499), is now available for just $229 through the official Starlink website and retailers including Home Depot / Best Buy.

54% discount from the original price represents an unprecedented low for the compact dish, which first launched last year at $599. Third-party retail availability adds additional consumer benefits including in-store pickup options, free shipping, and extended return windows compared to purchasing directly from SpaceX.

The aggressive pricing strategy comes as SpaceX continues efforts to expand its user base and boost revenue across its satellite internet business. Starlink Mini reduction follows a pattern of hardware and service discounts across the company’s product lineup.

For budget-conscious customers, Starlink Mini can be paired with the $50 monthly Roam plan, though this option comes with a 50GB data cap. Standard residential service remains available at higher price points with more generous data allowances.

Beyond outright purchases, SpaceX has implemented selective customer loyalty initiatives. Some long-term subscribers in the US and Canada & Australia have received email offers for “free” Starlink Mini hardware rentals. Program provides the dish without upfront cost but requires its return should the customer discontinue service.

New $229 pricing makes Starlink Mini substantially more accessible than the standard Starlink dish was at launch, potentially opening satellite internet to previously price-sensitive markets. As SpaceX continues its aggressive deployment schedule, these earthbound price movements suggest the company is ready to star-link more customers to its growing network.
