Li Auto i8 Electric SUV Unveiled: Discover the Future of Family EVs

Li Auto has today released two official images of its first all-electric SUV, the Li Auto i8. The photos give us our first look at the front and rear design of this anticipated vehicle, though the side profile remains concealed for now.

The i8 clearly shares design DNA with the Li MEGA first pure electric vehicle launched last year—featuring a similar front fascia and distinctive headlight arrangement. Notably, the front end incorporates what the company describes as a “bullet head” silhouette, while the rear styling appears to borrow elements from the company’s L9 model.

According to CEO Li Xiang, the Li Auto i8 is conceptually a wagon-style variant of the Model X, specifically engineered to address the spatial challenges that typically come with third-row seating configurations.

“The i8 shouldn’t be confused with an MPV,” Li Xiang clarified. “If you were to remove everything behind the C-pillar, you’d find that the front section closely resembles what you see in the Model Y and Model X.”

The introduction of the Li Auto i8 aligns with the company’s aggressive product strategy, which aims to launch 5 extended-range models, 1 super flagship vehicle (MEGA), and 5 all-electric models by 2025.

The i8 will be positioned as a 6-seater, large-format electric vehicle in the lineup. Among its technical highlights are 5C fast charging capabilities and what the company promises will be ultra-low energy consumption metrics.

The Li Auto i8 represents just the beginning of the company’s electric vehicle offensive. Industry watchers can expect to see the progressive introduction of the Li Auto i6, i7, and i9 models in the coming months as the manufacturer expands its footprint in the increasingly competitive EV market.

Li Auto isn’t just entering the EV race—it’s redefining expectations for what a large electric SUV can achieve. Will its blend of space, speed, and efficiency resonate with global audiences?
