Tesla New Model Y RWD 110: Singapore Special Edition EV Offers $40K+ in Potential Savings

Tesla Model Y RWD 110 Singapore

Tesla has launched a cleverly modified version of its popular new Model Y specifically for the Singapore market. New Model Y RWD 110 comes with deliberately reduced power—110kW instead of the standard 255kW—and it’s not because Tesla couldn’t deliver full power. Rather, this calculated technical adjustment allows the vehicle to qualify for Singapore’s Category A certificate of entitlement (COE), offering substantial savings to potential buyers.

Priced at $103,476 before COE, the Model Y RWD 110 costs $3,026 less than its more powerful sibling. But the real financial advantage comes from the COE category change, which represented a $22,388 difference in the most recent tender exercise.

New Tesla Model Y RWD 110 delivers savings that extend well beyond the initial purchase. By limiting power output, Tesla has effectively slashed the annual road tax from $3,478 to just $1,562—creating a cumulative saving of $19,160 over the standard 10-year COE lifespan.

These modifications come with predictable performance tradeoffs. New Model Y RWD 110 takes 9.6 seconds to reach 100kmh, considerably longer than the standard version. However, vehicle retains its 201kmh top speed and maintains similar charging capabilities with 175kW DC and 11kW AC support.

This isn’t just cost-cutting—it’s sophisticated market adaptation. The Model Y RWD 110 retains the same 62.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and permanent magnet synchronous motor as the standard version, with the power difference coming from software limitations rather than hardware changes.

For Singaporean consumers weighing electric vehicle options, new Model Y RWD 110 represents a pragmatic compromise that works with—rather than against—the country’s tiered vehicle taxation system. While some might miss the additional power, many buyers will appreciate that Tesla has engineered a solution that brings their electric crossover into a more accessible tax bracket without sacrificing the core Tesla experience.
