SpaceX has dramatically cut the price of its Starlink Standard Kit to an unprecedented $89 in certain parts of the US—representing a staggering 75% reduction from its regular $349 price tag and 85% less than last year’s $599 cost. The company isn’t stopping there; new customers can also secure a reduced monthly service fee of $59 for the first year, down from the standard $120.
Aggressive pricing strategy appeared Friday on the official Starlink website, where visitors from eligible locations attempting to subscribe to the satellite internet service’s Residential Plan are greeted with the promotional offer. Customers can alternatively opt for the Residential Lite plan at $49 monthly, reduced from $80, though this tier offers decreased speeds.

Discount structure isn’t uniform across all markets. For instance, potential subscribers in Cedar City, Utah, Eugene, Oregon, and San Francisco are being offered the Residential Plan at $85 monthly without the Residential Lite option. Meanwhile, Albuquerque and Boise residents can access the more substantial $49/$59 monthly pricing tiers. Some locations, such as Lawrence, Kansas, don’t appear to display any promotional pricing.
Regional variance in SpaceX’s Starlink pricing seems to correlate with areas where the satellite network has excess capacity, as indicated by a previously published availability map on the Starlink website.
As with most promotional offers, there are restrictions. SpaceX clearly states that the reduced rates only apply for the first year of service, with “terms and duration subject to change.” The company has limited eligibility to new customers in select regions, and subscribers who modify their plan, cancel service, or face suspension will forfeit the promotional pricing.
Latest move follows SpaceX’s earlier price reduction last month, when the company lowered its Residential plans to $99, while cutting the standard dish price to $175. However, those previous discounts were also geographically restricted and available only to new customers.
Interestingly, the main Starlink homepage has been inconsistent in its promotional messaging, sometimes advertising the $59 rate for the Residential Lite plan rather than the standard Residential tier, suggesting the company may still be fine-tuning its discount strategy.
For consumers in eligible areas, the SpaceX Starlink discounts represent an opportunity to access satellite internet at prices that are truly out of this world.
