Tesla FSD (Supervised) Launches in Australia & New Zealand for HW4 Model 3/Y Owners

Tesla expands FSD (Supervised) to Australia

Tesla has officially launched its FSD (Supervised) feature to the general public across Australia and New Zealand today. Rollout specifically targets AI4 (HW4) equipped Model 3/Y vehicles, marking a major milestone in Tesla’s global autonomous driving strategy.

Release comes after months of anticipation from Tesla owners in the region who have been watching their North American counterparts test the technology. With this update, AU and NZ become the latest markets to gain access to Tesla’s most advanced driver assistance system.

Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) deployment strategy leverages the company’s robust over-the-air update infrastructure. Eligible vehicle owners can upgrade their cars from anywhere with a WiFi connection — no dealership visit required. Seamless activation process has become a hallmark of Tesla’s approach to vehicle software.

For new Tesla purchases in the region, FSD (Supervised) is available as an optional package at the point of sale. Current owners of eligible vehicles can retroactively purchase the capability through their Tesla account.

Looking beyond the traditional one-time purchase model, Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) will soon be available through a subscription service priced at $149 AUD per month. Flexibility allows customers to test the technology without committing to the full purchase price.

The subscription approach may prove particularly attractive to those uncertain about the value proposition of FSD (Supervised) or who only want to use the features occasionally, such as during long road trips.

While HW4 owners celebrate their new capabilities, Tesla has yet to announce a timeline for HW3-equipped vehicles in the region.
