Tesla has rolled out its annual 2025 Holiday Update, and this year’s release brings substantial changes to vehicle functionality. Update centers on expanded AI integration through xAI’s Grok assistant, which now handles navigation commands directly. Additionally, Tesla introduced a 3D Supercharger Site Map that displays real-time stall availability before drivers arrive at charging locations.
2025 holiday update elevates Grok from conversational assistant to active navigation partner. In beta, Grok can now add and edit navigation destinations through voice commands. Rather than manually inputting addresses or searching for locations, drivers can simply tell Grok where they need to go. System processes natural language requests and adjusts routes accordingly.
Capability shifts how Tesla owners interact with their vehicle’s navigation system. Previously, Grok answered questions and provided information but couldn’t modify vehicle settings. Now it actively participates in trip planning and route management.
Tesla introduced a 3D Supercharger Site Map for select charging locations. When navigating to participating sites, drivers can tap “View Site Map” to see a three-dimensional layout of the facility. Map displays stall status in real time available, occupied, or down, helping drivers identify open charging spots before they park.
Feature addresses a common pain point for EV owners. Arriving at a Supercharger only to find all stalls occupied creates unnecessary delays. New visualization gives drivers advance notice of station capacity.
Navigation improvements extend beyond charging stations. Users can now reorder navigation favorites and set home or work locations by dropping pins anywhere on the map. System suggests destinations based on recent trips and driving patterns. Automatic HOV lane routing selects carpool lanes when eligible based on time, location, passenger count, and road restrictions.
2025 holiday update includes several entertainment additions. Tesla Photobooth transforms the vehicle into a mobile photo studio with filters, stickers, and emoji overlays. Santa Mode adds seasonal visuals including snowmen, trees, and snow effects. A new light show called Jingle Rush can be played instantly or scheduled up to 10 minutes in advance across multiple vehicles.
Custom wraps and license plates allow owners to personalize their vehicle avatar. Preloaded designs are available, or users can upload custom designs via USB flash drive. SpaceX ISS Docking Simulator game uses controls based on actual NASA astronaut interfaces.
Practical features include Dog Mode Live Activity for iPhone users, showing cabin snapshots with temperature and battery updates. Dashcam clips now include speed, steering wheel angle, and self-driving state data. Phone Left Behind Chime alerts drivers when they leave their device in the vehicle.
Location-based charge limits save settings for specific charging spots, automatically applying the preferred limit on return visits. Updates demonstrate Tesla’s continued focus on software refinement and user experience enhancement—proof that over-the-air updates remain a key differentiator for the brand.
