Porsche’s all-new 2024 Macan EV crossover to make waves when it hits the scene in 2024, the teaser of this car has just been released. Porsche has also announced a joint venture with the Austrian Frauscher shipyard to develop an electric speedboat that will share the same power system as the Macan EV. Isn’t that exciting?
Produced on the PPE platform, the 2024 Macan EV is expected to be equipped with a powerful new generation of permanent magnet synchronous motors. The dual-motor four-wheel drive version is expected to pack a punch with a maximum power of 450 kW and a peak torque of 1000 Nm, and is set to be equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack and 800V fast-charging technology. The first Porsche Macan EV is expected to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and hit the market in the first half of 2024.
Porsche has named its electric speedboat the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air day cruise speedboat. This boat will also be equipped with the same power system as the Macan EV, including a lithium-ion high-voltage battery with a total capacity of approximately 100kWh, the latest generation of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PSM), and associated power electronics. Thanks to Porsche’s 800V technology, the electric speedboat can be charged at DC fast charging stations, as well as AC.
What’s interesting is that this preview indirectly revealed the complete side shape of the Porsche Macan EV for the first time. The digital drawing shows the new crossover from the side, and the rear seems to be much more raked than it is on the current-gen model, all while resembling the profile of the Panamera and Taycan. The tail lights also seem to be similar to those of the Taycan, in the sense that it’s a continuous beam of red light that runs across the width of the car.
The Macan EV is based on Volkswagen’s latest PPE pure electric platform and supports 800V high-voltage charging. The car will be equipped with the latest generation of permanent magnet synchronous motors, with two models available: single-motor rear drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive. The dual-motor four-wheel drive model is expected to provide a maximum power of 450kW and is set to be equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 100kWh.
About electric speedboat, it is based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air day cruise speedboat. The boat’s hull size is also 8.67 meters long and 2.49 meters wide. In addition, the speedboat will be equipped with the same power system as the Porsche Macan EV, and the 100kWh battery, permanent magnet synchronous motor, and 800V high-voltage architecture will not be absent. Like the all-electric Macan, the Fantom Air will debut in 2024, with an exclusive first edition of 25 units to be built in Ohlsdorf, Austria.
