Tesla Launches Monthly Wheel & Tire Protection Plans Starting at $12

Tesla's New Monthly Wheel and Tire Protection Plan Rolls Out Across America

Tesla has launched a comprehensive monthly subscription service targeting one of the most common automotive concerns: wheel and tire damage. Tesla’s latest offering addresses the financial burden that comes with replacing damaged wheels and tires due to road hazards.

June, Tesla launches monthly extended service agreement subscriptions starting at $50/month, offering owners an affordable way to maintain coverage after their factory warranty expires.

Subscription-based model reflects Tesla’s broader business strategy of creating recurring revenue streams while providing value-added services to existing customers. Rather than forcing owners to absorb the full cost of unexpected tire damage, this protection plan offers predictable monthly payments with substantial coverage benefits.

Tesla’s pricing strategy varies significantly across its vehicle lineup, with costs ranging from $12 to $25 monthly:

Monthly Subscription Prices:

  • Model 3 (non-performance): $12
  • Model 3 Performance: $16
  • Model Y (non-performance): $16
  • Model Y Performance: $20
  • Model S (non-performance): $20
  • Model S Plaid: $25
  • Model X (non-performance): $20
  • Model X Plaid: $25
  • Cybertruck: $20

Tesla’s Wheel and Tire Protection encompasses two primary service categories: tire repairs and wheel or tire replacements. Plan provides unlimited tire repairs for damage resulting from typical road hazards, eliminating the concern about multiple repair costs throughout the coverage period.

When replacement becomes necessary, subscribers face only a $25 deductible per replacement—a significant reduction from typical out-of-pocket expenses. Coverage structure makes budgeting for wheel and tire maintenance more predictable for Tesla owners.

Plan activates immediately upon subscription and continues for up to 24 months or until cancellation. However, Tesla has established clear limitations: cosmetic damage, theft, vandalism, tires below 4/32″ tread depth, and pre-existing damage don’t qualify for coverage.

Tesla has implemented specific timing requirements for subscription eligibility. Owners must enroll within 30 days of purchasing a new Tesla vehicle, buying four tires through Tesla service, or completing a complimentary inspection.

Subscription process utilizes Tesla’s existing mobile application infrastructure. Owners navigate to the ‘Upgrades’ section, select ‘Service Plan,’ then choose ‘Wheel and Tire Protection.’

The monthly payment structure offers psychological benefits beyond financial protection. Customers can budget for predictable monthly expenses rather than facing unexpected repair bills that might reach hundreds of dollars.
