Tesla Adds B-Pillar Camera View to Cybertruck App | Critical Security Upgrade

Tesla B-Pillar Cameras Join Sentry Mode in 2025 Spring Update

Tesla has rolled out an enhancement to its mobile application that enables Cybertruck owners to access their vehicle’s B-pillar camera feeds. This feature, announced in today’s app update, expands the security monitoring capabilities of the electric pickup through the “Mobile Dashcam Viewer” function. Implementation represents a significant upgrade to Tesla’s surveillance toolkit, arriving months after the company promised expanded camera access.

In May, Tesla announced plans to incorporate B-pillar camera footage into its Sentry Mode surveillance system. The B-pillar cameras, strategically positioned between the front and rear doors on each side of the vehicle, provide critical viewpoints that were previously unavailable to owners through the mobile app.

These additional angles transform Tesla’s Sentry Mode into a more comprehensive security system by covering potential blind spots that existed in earlier iterations. For Cybertruck owners concerned about vehicle security, this update addresses a notable gap in monitoring capability.

B-pillar camera perspective offers perhaps the most crucial angle for security purposes, particularly when documenting incidents in parking situations. With vehicles frequently parked alongside one another, these cameras often capture the clearest view of adjacent vehicle license plates during potential damage incidents or break-in attempts.

Prior to this update, Tesla owners had limited visibility to the areas directly beside their vehicles when reviewing security footage remotely. Addition of B-pillar camera access through the mobile app significantly enhances owners’ ability to monitor their vehicles from virtually any location.

While Cybertruck owners can now celebrate this new capability, the broader Tesla lineup faces a more complex situation. Spring 2025 Update (2025.14.1) supposedly brought this feature to Model Y/3 vehicles, but with a substantial limitation that has left many Tesla owners frustrated, exclusive to HW4 vehicles.

When your vehicle’s security gets an extra set of eyes, you’ll know your Tesla is truly watching your back—and your sides.
