Mercedes GLB EV Interior Unveiled: Triple Screens & Smart Glass Tech

Mercedes has unveiled the interior of their new all-electric GLB EV

Mercedes-Benz has pulled back the curtain on its upcoming GLB EV’s interior, and the automaker isn’t holding back on technology. Mercedes plans to fully unveil the second-gen GLB on December 8, all-electric model will replace the current EQB in the company’s compact luxury SUV lineup.

New GLB EV features an optional Superscreen configuration that stretches across the entire dashboard, integrating driver instrumentation and infotainment into one continuous digital interface. While exact specifications remain unconfirmed, industry sources expect the setup to include a 10.25-inch instrument cluster flanked by dual 14-inch touchscreens. Base trim levels will omit the passenger-side display, though mid-tier and higher variants will offer the full triple-screen experience.

However, Mercedes has listened to user concerns about touchscreen overload. Physical controls for volume adjustment and cruise control have returned to the steering wheel, addressing ergonomics complaints that plagued earlier fully-digital implementations.

Beyond the screens, GLB EV introduces an advanced panoramic glass roof system with optional illuminated star pattern effects. Standout feature allows occupants to switch the glass from transparent to opaque in milliseconds using touch controls on the center display. Electrochromic technology provides instant shade control without requiring traditional sunshades.

Mercedes GLB EV maintains its characteristic boxy silhouette, prioritizing interior volume over aerodynamic styling. Design choice proves crucial for the optional 7-seat configuration, which includes two individual third-row seats. 5-seat models can add a sliding second row as an option, while 7-seat variants include this feature as standard equipment.

When not in use, third row folds flat to expand cargo capacity substantially. 2027 model year version grows slightly compared to its predecessor, delivering improved second-row legroom and enhanced headroom thanks to a nearly flat roofline.

Perhaps the most significant technical advancement involves the GLB EV’s winter efficiency. Mercedes has integrated an advanced heat pump system derived from Vision EQXX prototype, which dramatically reduces energy consumption for cabin heating. Directly addresses range anxiety in cold climates, where traditional electric vehicles often struggle with thermal management demands.

Powertrain lineup will mirror the CLA’s offerings, featuring single- and dual-motor electric configurations plus a mild-hybrid option utilizing Mercedes’ 1.5-liter turbocharged M252 four-cylinder engine. Electric models come standard with rear-wheel drive, while 4Matic all-wheel drive remains available as an upgrade.

With December 8 fast approaching, Mercedes is clearly betting big on the GLB EV to bridge luxury and practicality.
