It’s rare for a production-based electric vehicle to dominate a conversation about performance engineering the way the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT manthey kit just did. Clocking a 6:55.553 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Porsche shaved another 12 seconds off its own lap record for production EVs, a margin that’s anything but incremental. What’s particularly noteworthy here isn’t just the number itself; it’s the breadth of engineering work packed into a factory-available upgrade kit.
The manthey kit is the first of its kind for an electric Porsche, and it’s the most far-reaching manthey upgrade to date. Aerodynamics, powertrain, wheels, tires, brakes, and suspension have all been revised — simultaneously.
That scale of ambition is reflected most clearly in the aerodynamic package. Downforce increases by more than three times compared to the standard Taycan Turbo GT — from 209 lbs to 683 lbs at 124 mph. At the car’s revised top speed of 192 mph, total downforce reaches 1,631 lbs, a figure that starts to blur the line between road car and track machine.
Key components include a new rear wing with enlarged end plates, an optimized front diffuser, a high-performance rear diffuser with extended fins, and carbon aerodiscs fitted to the rear wheels. Both the rear wing and front diffuser are driver-adjustable, which means the Turbo GT manthey kit can be dialed for specific circuit characteristics rather than relying on a fixed setup.
For the first time, Manthey has touched the powertrain of an electric Porsche. Modifications to the high-voltage battery, control unit, and pulse inverters increase the maximum discharge current from 1,100 to 1,300 amps, raising standard system output from 580 kW (777 hp) to 600 kW (804 hp).
Attack Mode — the 10-second overboost function — now delivers up to 730 kW (978 hp), up from 700 kW (938 hp). Launch control remains at 760 kW (1,019 hp).

That said, context matters here. On an 800V architecture, a current ceiling of 1,300 amps is a measured step, not a dramatic leap. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, for instance, likely operates closer to 1,500 amps in real-world conditions, with a peak output of approximately 1,548 hp — and a top speed approaching 350 km/h versus the Taycan’s 192 mph. For comparison, Tesla’s now-discontinued Model S Plaid reportedly peaked at around 2,250 amps on a 400V system. In current terms, Porsche’s gains are real, but relative to the wider EV performance landscape, they’re conservative.
On the chassis side, new Manthey-designed 21-inch forged aluminum wheels are lighter than the outgoing units despite being larger in diameter. Titanium wheel bolts help drop unsprung mass by approximately 6 pounds — a tangible benefit for ride quality and transient response at speed.
Taycan Turbo GT manthey kit runs on Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS track tires, with fronts four centimeters wider and rears three centimeters wider than the standard Turbo GT configuration. Braking hardware steps up to 440 mm front discs (from 420 mm) and 410 mm rears, paired with performance-grade pads throughout.
6:55.553 positions Taycan manthey kit ahead of both the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme — a 3,000+ hp hypercar limited to 30 units that posted a 6:59.157 in August 2025 — and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s 7:04.957 production record. Only the SU7 Ultra’s stripped prototype version, at 6:46.874, has gone faster — and that wasn’t a production car.

Still, each car has a distinct character. Taycan’s expanded aerodynamic package suggests it’s earning its lap time primarily through high-speed stability, while the SU7 Ultra’s electrical architecture points to a car that leans on raw power in the corners. Both appear to have further room for development, which makes the next round of Nürburgring time attacks worth watching closely.
Porsche hasn’t confirmed pricing or timing for the kit’s market availability, though it has confirmed the manthey kit will be available directly from the factory — itself another first.
For a machine that’s arguably redefined what a factory-backed upgrade program looks like in the EV era, that might be the sharpest twist of all: Taycan Turbo GT manthey kit didn’t just lap the Nordschleife faster — it lapped the competition in scope, too.
