Tesla’s European expansion of Tesla FSD (Supervised) just picked up another stamp of approval. Denmark’s Road Traffic Authority, known as Færdselsstyrelsen, has formally accepted the provisional type approval of FSD Supervised, citing the system’s potential to contribute positively to road safety. That makes Denmark the fourth European country to green-light the technology.
Danish Road Traffic Authority confirmed its position following a review of the technical documentation, aligning with the Dutch RDW’s prior assessment of the driver-assistance software. Well, that’s a notable development — particularly given that earlier media reports had suggested Danish officials were among the skeptics.
To be clear, this isn’t full autonomous operation. Tesla positions FSD Supervised as a tool to incrementally improve road safety, with the company claiming it reduces incidents when used properly. Drivers remain responsible at all times; the system assists rather than replaces human judgment.
The Danish approval follows a pattern now established by the Dutch RDW, which other European countries are recognizing as a template, allowing national authorities to accept the Dutch certification without duplicating the full review process. That shortcut is precisely what’s accelerating the rollout across the continent.
The momentum isn’t stopping at Denmark. Tesla has completed the mandatory 5,000 KM of FSD testing on Belgian public roads, a key regulatory milestone, and the test file has been formally submitted to the Flemish Mobility Minister’s administration for official advice on homologation. Belgium’s approval appears to be a question of when, not if.
Beyond Belgium, a substantial number of EU member states remain in the pending queue — including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Poland — alongside non-EU nations such as Norway, Switzerland, and the UK. Larger markets getting onboard would represent a material shift in Tesla’s European subscriber base, especially given Tesla’s move to a subscription-only FSD model.
