Tesla has shattered its own manufacturing records at Giga Shanghai, bringing the refreshed new Model Y from initial production to full-scale output in just 6 weeks — an unprecedented achievement for the EV maker’s production capabilities.
The refreshed Model Y, which first debuted on January 10th, entered production at Giga Shanghai on February 18th. Tesla managed to begin customer deliveries in China a mere eight days later, on February 26th. This rapid timeline represents what Tesla calls “the fastest scaling of a new model in the company’s history.”

Tesla Giga Shanghai Hits Record Production Pace with Refreshed Model Y
“Tesla Sets Production Record with Refreshed New Model Y in China” isn’t just a headline—it’s a significant manufacturing milestone that showcases the company’s evolving production efficiency. Speed at which Giga Shanghai reached full production capacity demonstrates Tesla’s growing manufacturing prowess.
While China celebrates production wins, Tesla’s North American manufacturing strategy takes an even more ambitious turn. Tesla has revealed plans to produce its fully autonomous Cybercab — Tesla’s next-gen Robotaxi platform—at an almost unimaginable pace.
The target? Rolling a completed Cybercab off production lines every 5 seconds.

This extraordinary production goal would put Tesla’s autonomous vehicle output at approximately 17,280 units per day—should the company achieve 24-hour production cycles. “Tesla Sets Production Record with Refreshed New Model Y in China” may soon be overshadowed by headlines about Cybercab production volumes.
The Long Range AWD new Model Y maintains its EPA-estimated 327-mile range with standard 19-inch all-season tires. Customers opting for the available 20-inch wheels will see range figures drop to 303 miles.
Perhaps most notably, Tesla has significantly reduced pricing on the refreshed model. New Long Range AWD Model Y starts at $48,990 before destination fees and taxes—representing an $11k reduction from the Launch Series variant that carried a $59,990 starting price.
The vehicle now comes with a new Model Y premium diamond black paint option for standard models, expanding customization options without premium pricing.

In a quiet product update last week, Tesla introduced a new Model Y Long Range RWD variant. According to company specifications, this model actually outperforms its predecessor in key performance metrics while maintaining identical pricing.
This move further expands the Model Y lineup, offering customers more configuration options at competitive price points.
